New project wanted…. { 1 }

Well, what happened? I recently sold both the Alpina as the M5 Touring, so the garage has got room for a new project! As I wrote earlier I am not that into ‘new’ cars, although I must admit that the Alpina was almost upto motoring perfection, but buying an E46 M3 (either as a CSL or a Competition Packet) is still very tempting to me. I found some rather fine examples, but on the other hand, buying something different than an Alpina or M-model is also tempting. What about a Porsche 965 Turbo 3.6 or a Ferrari 550 Maranello? Even a Porsche 928 GTS is a very, very good car and absolute value for money. One of my favorites from the mid-eighties is still the famous ‘Yellowbird’ by RUF, a car with the same mystique as the Bi-Turbo has gathered in the last 10 years or so. I’ve seen some amazing clips on Youtube where the testdriver of Alois’ Business is thrashing the neun-elfer around the Nordschleife like if he’s on his holiday funtrip! The problem of these masters of the eighties is the children of that decadeĀ are the moneymaking guys of today; they are all interested in buying their childhood favorites (Quattro’s, R5 Turbo, E30 M3, E34 M5, 930 Turbo and 911 3.2, B10 Bi-Turbo, Lotus Omega etc. etc.) so prices are going up fast. There are only a few CTR’s for sale and the cheapest one is priced around 130k euro’s. So, my garage has got an empty space but my wallet shows a vacuum as well. Therefore I, luckily, can still have dreams and probably will end up with a nice E46 within a couple of weeks…
